BookMyShow Takes Action Against Fake Coldplay Tickets Ahead of Mumbai Concerts
*Mumbai:* In response to reports of counterfeit tickets being sold for Coldplay's upcoming concerts in India, BookMyShow has filed a police complaint against ticket scalpers. The British rock band recently added a third show in Mumbai to its Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 due to overwhelming demand, leading to frustration among fans as they faced long virtual queues on the ticketing platform.
BookMyShow experienced significant technical difficulties as users flocked to secure tickets for the January 2025 performances. Amid these challenges, the platform discovered that unauthorized sellers were reselling tickets at inflated prices on sites like Viagogo and Gigsberg.
In a statement released on Tuesday via X, BookMyShow condemned ticket scalping and clarified its lack of association with any unauthorized resale platforms. The company urged fans to refrain from purchasing tickets from these sources, warning of potential counterfeit tickets and financial loss.
“Scalping is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India,” the statement emphasized. BookMyShow expressed its commitment to cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation and advised fans to be vigilant against scams.
Coldplay's concert dates are set for January 18, 19, and 21, 2025, at DY Patil Sports Stadium in Mumbai. As excitement builds, many fans have taken to social media to share their frustrations over server crashes and long waitlists, further intensifying the demand for tickets. Celebrities, including filmmaker Karan Johar, have also echoed the sentiment of eager fans hoping to secure their place at the highly anticipated shows.
